YOAKEMAE｜New Photography Award is
dedicated to recognizing works that will shape the future of photography.
Each year, one Grand Prix winner will be selected.
Award recipients will receive a grant to support their creative endeavors,
along with opportunities for a solo exhibition, the production of a photo book,
and guidance in their artistic activities.

Yoshiyuki Okuyama
Photographer and Film director
Winner of the 34th Canon New Cosmos of Photography – Excellence Award in 2011 for his work "Girl." Winner of the 47th Kodansha Publishing Culture Award – Photography Prize in 2016 for his work "BACON ICE CREAM.”His published books include "flowers," "windows," and "photographs," and his film directorial works include "5 Centimeters Per Second" and "At the Bench."
Erika Kobayashi
Writer and Artist
Winner of the 78th Mainichi Publishing Culture Award for her work "Girls Making Paper Balloon Bombs," Winner of the 2022-2023 Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission Prizes (JUSFC) for the Translation of Japanese Literature for her work "Trinity, Trinity, Trinity," Other works include "Madame Curie to chōshoku o (Breakfast with Madame Curie)," Hikari no kodomo 1.2.3 LUMINOUS (Children of Light: Luminous). As an artist, she has participated in the 13th Berlin Biennale and other events.
Anri Samata

Risaku Suzuki

Winner of the 25th Ihei Kimura Photography Award in 2000 for his work "PILES OF TIME," Risaku Suzuki's published books include "Kumano," "Chikaku no kanko-ban (Sensitive Plate of Perception)," and "Fuyu to Haru (Winter and Spring)." Suzuki's solo exhibitions include "Ishiki no Nagare (Stream of Consciousness)" and "Suikyo (Water Mirror)."
Kimi Himeno
Founder and Representative, AKAAKAsha
Kimi Himeno is the founder of AKAAKAsha, a publishing house established in 2006. Known for its dedication to photography and art, AKAAKAsha has published numerous influential works, including Rieko Shiga's "CANARY," Masashi Asada's "The Asada Family," Aya Fujioka's "Kawa wa yuku," and Ryuichi Ishikawa's "Zekkei no Polyphony." Himeno's commitment to showcasing compelling visual narratives has made AKAAKAsha a leading name in the world of art publishing.
